DIETING CAN LEAD TO EATING DISORDERS
Our culture is diet obsessed. So many men and women are dissatisfied with their appearance and want to lose weight. How can we determine when a diet has gone too far? A diet has gone too far when restrictive calorie levels or limited foods on that diet lead to episodes of binge eating; a diet has gone too far when a person purges calories by self-induced vomiting. This leads to severe eating disorders.
As a fitness professional, working in a city where glamour, looks and appearance are more important than a healthy lifestyle. I tend to run into this more often than not. I mean after all, this is Hollywood and expectations of how a woman should look are unrealistic and unhealthy. I teach my clients to have a balanced healthy lifestyle (don’t like the word diet). Anything that comes off fast in a short time is bound to show back up and more. Why? Because we can only do this for a short period of time. Fad diets and yo-yo weight patterns only make your body work harder to maintain homeostasis. Once your body trusts you again, it will do exactly what it is supposed to do.
The key is not to diet. Instead, listen to your body, eat when hungry, stop when you’re full. Healthy, balanced meals and healthy snacks without any deprivations. All food is fine when you keep in mind: Balance, moderation and variety.
Food is fuel for your body. The biggest misconception is that most people don’t know exactly what to eat. Its frustrating. Portion control with the right choices makes life a lot more enjoyable. Its like anything. You have to learn, get the hang of it and after a while you don’t even think of it.

MISCONCEPTIONS OF EATING
I wanted to quickly write a “blurb” about the common misconception of EATING. I can’t tell you how many people I come across that think they can lose weight by eating like a bird. Quite possibly the WORST thing you can do! Here is another no-no, eating three big meals a day. Now I know what you are thinking….then what the heck are you suppose to do right? Eat 5-6 smaller portioned, healthy meals a day and watch yourself tighten up and the fat disappear! Now add a weight training and cardio regiment into the mix and you’re off to the races!
This may seem overwhelming because a lot of you aren’t sure what is meant by healthy meals or where you would even start with a workout plan. If you need help, please feel free to contact us.
